I wished for a long time for an easier way for me and my customers to handle the page management in cmsimple. Of course i can handle it, but many customers cant and found it frustrating and complicated. Even after teaching it to them, they still had a hard time.

Thats why we decided to begin developing the Easy Menu-Manager. The work on it was going on for some time now and i want you to show a first demonstration of it. It is still far from being finished.

It uses DHTML drag and drop techniques and does not require annoying page reloads like most web applications. the only time you have to reload is after adding a new page, if you want to add more.

If you like what you see and would see a finished Version of it soon, please consider donating. If i get some donations i can afford spending time on this and not on the "serious" projects. Even 5 €/$ can help!

I would also like to create a plugin compatible version of this, but i first want to wait until Svarrer and Mr. Harteg set the plugin architecture into stone.

The Menu-Manager is tested in Internet Explorer and Firefox. Other Browsers are not supported and may not work.

To show you what the Menu Manager is about, i created this Demonstration. You can save at this Demonstration Site. Please dont add Bullshit or i have to take the Site off. Thank you. PM me to get the Login.

After log in, go to the settings page. you will find a new entry there.

WARNING: It is still possible to add h3 directly under h1, which of course makes no sense and wastes the content.htm

http://249172.vserver.de/cmsimple/menumanager/

How to use:
Drag & Drop the Menuitems to where you want to have them.
Drag them out of the Screen to the right side to delete.
Add a new Page by dragging it into the Menutree.
You can only add one new Page.
To add more, save first.

Really nice - and seems to work. Tested it with adding some content/text and CMSimple-Scripting.

some things need to be improved quickly. IE gets the Scrollbar Size wrong, Firefox does it right. I did a quick fix to this by just making the Page height 3000px until i found out whats wrong with IE.

Also i would like to be able to rename pages. that is easy to do.

Really, really cool! Even simpler than I thought of. I am sure that a lot of CMSimple-users will love this.

If you make it a plugin to CMSimple, I'll be happy to make the neccesary simple mod in cms.php to integrate your code. Or you could consider to make your own distribution of CMSimple and sell it as reseller.

Hi Jens!

I tested the system and its very easy now to make the structure of the site without fiddling in textfiles on the site with copy and paste!!!!!!!

Great - should be part of CMSimple or as a plugin!!!! Do you think of to publish it???

Yes i want to publish it! Problem is, i dont have the time to finish the project and nobody donates something. So i must Focus on the real Projects that earn me money for living.

I hope to finish the menu manager this month, but i am really busy :(

I also dont see large sales for this, maybe a complete "CMSimple Plus Edition" with the menu manager, better guestbook and mailform could get some sales, but im not so sure. I think that will be the way i do it.

If Peter is interessted, he could maybe make it a part of the standard cmsimple distribution, that would also be an option.

i think something like this should have been inside cmsimple from the beginning.

i did not decide what to do with it yet. But first i have to clean it up a lot, the code is somewhat messy.

Hallo!

First impresions:
Its running good, but sometimes it takes a longer time to build ab the page or to scroll
Wenn a Text of a heading is longer (i.e. 2 words it makes a second line which is not or is bad readable. If the word is alonger one it shortens it with dots (this is a good solution for me).
To switch a page from level1 or level 2 in level 3 is a bit challenging the positioning is very difficult. The other levels are OK

Failure when I want to save the changes:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: abdj_css() in /usr/export/www/hosting/merenge/cmsimple/cms.php on line 310
Don't know what's the meaning. The whole content of the site is deleted!!!!!
It's only a test-site and backuped so its not a problem

greetings
Meril

This code is part of my addons (see Addons and Plugins).
Code:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: abdj_css()

Seems like Jens did miss to delete the code after testing my addons.

See cms.php in
Code:
function editmenu() { ...
Delete the part with 'abdj_css()'

Hi!

I use your addons and so I think I shouldn't delete this - right?

Sure this function is needed if you use my addons.
Which version do you have (v2.0 basic?)

Which template do you use together with the menumanager?

I will have a look on it. Perhaps Jens might look also. Seems to be some include/path problem.
